So far, digital TV is not an improvement for folks like me who live on “the fringe”. I live on top of the hill in the Meadowvale area of Havre de Grace, MD. I get great analog tv reception and I sometimes get a clean digital signal. However, after moving my antenna (the largest I could find) three times and with the help of an amplifier, I can seldom watch an entire show without problems. I have to constantly readjust the rotator for each station and if the is even a light wind blowing the resulting consistent interruptions are so irritating that I still watch the analog signal most of the time. Even birds landing on the antenna cause signal interuptions. When February finally arrives I am going to be watching a lot less TV. All of my neighbors have cable or satellite, but I just can’t fit either one into my budget. I will miss the “good old days” when I could count on watching the news in any weather. I never minded a little snow in the picture. Sure, the digital is better visually, if you can get it. It’s a shame that many people like me will have no option but to pay for TV or just turn it off in a few months. I bet Comcast loves the digital transition. I wonder who else is making money from this while many ordinary people lose again? If anyone has a possible solution besides moving the antenna higher which creats more movement and less consistent reception, I would appreciate it.
I bought a Polaroid HDTV HDMI am I ready for HDTV or do I need a converter box?
Yesterday, Feb. 20th, I was playing with our digital converter box all day. In the morning I received clear pictures from all four stations at Television Hill (2, 11, 13 and 54). In the afternoon channel 11 started to degrade but the other channels remained clear. By evening all three channel 11’s were gone. Can you tell me what’s happening?
